Monsters in My Closet is a romantic novel of suspense written by Margaret A. Daly.
Becky loved her new apartment. While it definitely was what the realtor had described as "cozy" -- code for small -- she loved its bright cheeriness and the many windows; it would be the perfect venue for her work as a freelance writer.Becky was a runner as well, and the nearby park would provide her with endless hours of running and exploring new paths and trails. Her best friend, Lilah, had helped her with this move, one of several Becky had endured over the last several years. This one, she hoped, would be the last for a while. It just seemed right -- a new beginning as it were. Becky had dumped the last of a string of awful exes; Jack, a child-man who played video games for a living and had the maturity to match. Becky was just about through with guys,at least for a while. She was healing from that first awful thing that happened when she was still a teen, the romance that had turned into something so dreadful and monstrous that she couldn't even share it with Lilah.
Margaret A. Daly's Monsters in My Closet is a sensitive and perceptive story about a young woman whose abuse at the hands of the one who should have cherished her has left her scarred and unable to trust again. Watching as she resists the attractive, funny and genuinely nice Steven, a runner she just keeps on bumping into, makes for a marvelous light-hearted romance, while the darker undertones of Becky's hidden past keep the tension in this story at a high. Daly's plot addresses serious social issues while it entertains, and her characters are believable and real.
Monsters in My Closet is most highly recommended.
