Saddled with Death
Emma Haythorne isn’t the only one dismayed by the quarrelsome visitors who arrive at her neighbour’s sheep station on the Murray River, but when one turns up dead in the stable and the family try to blame horse thieves Emma suspects the killer is closer to home.
When she agrees to investigate the murder in order to being peace of mind to a dying woman, she faces strident opposition from family and visitors alike. While her outspoken approach soon has her in trouble - after all she hasn’t been dubbed ‘too big for her britches’ for nothing – it’s only when called upon to honour an old promise that her heart fails her.
Can she overcome her fears of what the promise would mean for her own life and concentrate on unmasking the killer, or will her inability to keep her thoughts to herself make her the killer’s next target? Of course, if that happens the promise probably won’t matter anyway.
